GREGG DAIGLE

Gregg Daigle, lead guitarist, banjo stylist and vocalist for Raising Cane, was "raised up" almost with guitar in hand in western Massachusetts at the base of the Appalachian foothills. His bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance and his interest in rural and modern blues stylings has given Gregg a fresh, captivating way with foot-stompin', down-to-earth bluegrass.

A 10-year resident of New Mexico, he is the 2001 Santa Fe Flat-pick Guitar Champion and runs his own string studio in Albuquerque where he teaches guitar, banjo and mandolin.

One of the founders of Raising Cane, Gregg has studied with Beppe Gambetta, Steve Kaufman and Harry Chalmiers and credits a kaleidoscopic array of musical influences, ranging from Doc Watson and Bill Monroe to Bob Dylan. His prolific songwriting captures the magic of the Southwestern bluegrass genre in lilting arrangements and soulful lyrics. His heartfelt "The Price You Pay," featured on the group's CD, typifies his soul-touching style. "It's the things you do," Gregg's prophetic lyrics tell us, "that make you who you are. It's the life you live that shows the world how you give." Gregg’s virtuoso guitar and banjo picking lay the groundwork for Raising Cane's one-of-a-kind sound. >> back
